Project 365/Day 14 - A Birthday Card for a Friend

Time was running out and I needed to dig into my scraps pile to create this project before day’s end. It is a birthday card I made for a friend of ours who is losing her battle with cancer. I delivered it with a little gift on Sunday to let her know that we were thinking of her. The speckled element is a coffee filter that was spritzed with Walnut ink, cut and folded. I kept all neutrals as part of the main design with one tiny accent of color...a small butterfly diecut and embossed from a beautiful paper stock from Karen Foster Designs. I stamped the make a wish verse to complete the card design. Challenge yourself to create a project using neutral colors with just a hint of color.

Project 365 Challenge: Day 5/Masculine Hybrid Valentine

For this masculine Valentine’s card, I used the Restorations Collection from Crate Paper along with buttons & gems from Bo Bunny, and Glue Arts’s high tac adhesive with Glue Glider Pro and extreme adhesive squares. Note: I used a fiskars scallop heart punch and some pink mulberry paper for the heart. Wind and Surf

This spring has been much windier than I recall since we moved six years ago. Yes, can you believe that...it seems just yesterday that we experienced that record amount of hurricanes that welcomed us in 2004. Usually by now the Wenger family should have a great jumpstart on our tans and frequented the beach more than a handful of times, but schedules and life has kept us far from the beach. We did get to go enjoy the beach on Mother’s Day. It was windy and the waves were crashing. It seems to be windier than usual and better waves than in years past. We are hoping to hae great fun up at Ron Jon’s with the surf board this year!

The weather conditions made me think of this birthday card I made recently. The surfer stamp is from Stampin’ Up! and the the cool flourish I picked up at Michaels before Christmas. I used Versamark ink and white embossing powder to create the deco wave on top of the cardstock and patterned paper layers along with my trusty Glue Glider™ Pro to assemble it!

A Blooming Idea for a Special Birthday

Here is a cool way to use your flowers and floral punches. For this Flowerful 50th birthday card, I used the Boho Blossoms punch to create the first numeral and layered flowers for the zero. It is just one more way you can have fun with your punches and flower embellishments. I made a coordinating gift box to go along with the card. I used items from the Pretties Kit to dress it up and rimmed the lid of the box with ribbon. The patterned paper is one of my favorites and only available until the end of this month from Stampin’ Up!®. You can order online from my website or send me an email. Life is Music...Play it Louder!

Isn’t it so cool when you are working on a project and find an embellishment that has just the right sentiment or feeling you want to convey? When working on this Birthday gift for my friend, Heather, I wanted to make a cover that would bring a smile to her face and give her some inspiration. I found in my stash this wonderful deck of journaling cards from Fancy Pants Designs that have the coolest art and sayings. This stack of Designer Trading Cards “Creative Cards” was Simple Sentiments. I knew immediately the Life is Music...Play it Louder card was perfect to use on the cover. Everything else clicked from there. Most of the inside papers are from K&Company. Just love their stuff!

This is the second accordian-fold mini album I have made with one of these Martha Stewart Collection albums. I love how they fold flat, have the strap to hold them closed, and can even be taken with you. The other album was made for my husband for Father’s Day a few years ago. It is still his favorite gift to this day cause the girls and I worked on it together. 

The album and the card feature products from some of my favorite companies: K&Company, Basic Grey, Fancy Pants Designs, Glue Arts and Stampin’ Up! It has only been a couple months that we have been trying to get together. Life is kooky like that. You sometimes have the best intentions, but schedules get in the way!

Another momentous birthday- making light of turning 70!

You may remember the You Still Rock Bag I posted not long ago. Well that inspired me to make this cheeky 70th Birthday card for someone in my family who might not appreciate it if I divulged her age. Hopefully, she will get a big kick out of it when it arrives with her gift. It uses the brand new eyelet punch from Stampin' Up!® and the Just Jawing stamp set. For the numbers, once again, I used the Inque Boutique set Sharie Numbers. To give the shimmer to the bow & eyes, I used a Pixie Pink marker with two way glue and Dazzling Diamonds glitter over top. I used just the glue and Dazzling Diamonds to make the shiny teeth. The stars were embossed using silver embossing powder with Versamark ink. Cardstock is all from SU: Going Grey, Whisper White, Pixie Pink & Basic Black.
